x17z - Hot water comes out of both taps (water pump)

Hello - hoping to get some help. When I run the water pump, hot water comes out of both the hot & cold taps. Also, there is a lot of sputtering on both, even after running for a few minutes.

On city water - everything works perfect, no sputtering and hot and cold are where they should be.

I just dewinterized, so maybe I am missing something? I will admit, I did have the hot water tank bypass valve open (along with the hot & cold) for a day or two , but I have since closed that and still there are issues.

Any ideas on what could be wrong?

I have heard that if the outside shower valves are left open with the hose turned off the hot water can cross over to the cold water line thus allowing hot water to come out the cold water outlets.
