X17Z sewer storage location

Since the X17Z only has a small storage compartment, where do you store extra sewer hose? I want to store 20 feet of hose. There does not seem to be many places to modify the trailer for sewer hose storage. Can you screw into the underside of the trailer floor to mount a storage tube? Any ideas and or photos would be greatly appreciated.

X17Z sewer storage location

Thanks Wmoses. I am nervous screwing into the body of the trailer. What type of screws did you use and did you use any sort if sealant around the screws? Thanks!

Looks good man.
Do you get 20' of hose in there? Just looks short of the ~8' width?
Nice and clean look, nice job.

I like the back up lights too. Can you flip those on for set up too?

Doug

I got a 4' Vinyl Fence post cover and some L brackets. Mounted it to the front of the trailer on the frame itself. Store my hose in that with the elbow sticking out the end. I have a very tiny bungie cord that I fasten around the elbow and back to the fence post cover while traveling.

Don't be nervous about screwing into the fiberglass - it is fairly thick and tough. I used 1-1/2" metal screws (look like wood screws but not with the countersunk shape under the head) and washers. I don't recall using sealant around the holes but would advise that you do put a dab of clear silicone at each hole. I did drill a small pilot hole before screwing into the fiberglass.

Thanks. Yes, I did have 2 x 10' lengths of the red E-Z Coupler sewer hose in there.

Naw ... they are only for backup as they are connected to the truck's backup lights via the 7-pin connector. No independent switch.

My wife and I did a modification based on this thread from a few years ago. Mikefos really did a nice job and we copied it. Our X17Z mod has its pictures posted in that thread, but I copied them here.

https://www.jaycoowners.com/showthrea...ght=sewer+hose

The mod uses a 4.75" PVC fence post (not a 4x4 cover, but a stand alone fence post). Attach a cap to each end. We then used plastic gutters as drawers to hold the two 10' sewer hoses in the tube. The gutter also acts to hold the hose in place between the TT and the sewer hookup (when at a full hookup site). We used all existing holes on the bumper to mount the post. Everything is very lightweight, so the bumper holds it with no issues. This is the first mod we did to the trialer because I didn't like the very small hose holder.

We use very large Zip ties and simply tie the hose holder, same as wmoses used, under the bumper. Takes 2 minutes to install.

The problem with zip ties is that prolonged exposure to UV light makes them brittle. A more secure solution might be to use Stainless Steel pipe clamps or even galvanized hanger iron in combination with your zip ties.
