X17Z - WDH that won't hurt my back...
Greetings - new to forums here, we have a 2014 x17z purchased new and really like it. We've been out several times. The dealer installed an Equalizer 6k 4point WDH 90-00-0600 with 90-02-4400 receiver 14" drop/rise. TV is an '03 Toyota Sequoia 650 lbs tow hitch / 6200 lbs tow capacity ratings. The WDH has been great and we feel secure with it but between the receiver, 2" ball, and ball housing it weights in at 58 lbs which is much too heavy for me to lift with lower back surgery. I definitely want to use a WDH but looking for suggestions for something lighter for me to lift.

Welcome to the forum. There are great folks here with lots of helpful informaiton.
I believe some of the folks on this site use the Andersen WD Hitch, which is lighter. If you wait, you may hear from them before too long.

Thank you for the information. Seems like so many threads going all the time it's hard to keep up. I will look more closely at the Andersen WDH which looks much lighter from the pictures I've seen.

The Andersen WDH is perfect. The heaviest part might be the 2 inch ball receiver, no bars! I towed a 5800 lb. trailer from the Seattle area to Michigan and back last year. It didn't care when a semi truck passed and kept the TV & TT in a happy state! It is now on the new 20MRB and I still need to do some adjusting but it has done fine, so far.
Very easy to set up and hook up!

The hitch grip is an interesting idea. Thanks for the link. It will still be too heavy for me to lift.

Thanks for the feedback on the Andersen and video link. DW and I are seriously looking into going this route as it seems that other WDH with bars are all heavy but for a good reason from what I'm reading.

Thank you oldmanaz & Murff for the Andersen recommendation. I had it installed today by a dealer and glad I let them do it since the urethane bushings were missing. They found something similar to make it work then called Andersen who will mail a set to me. My 30mile drive home was not much different then the other hitch, no bouncing or swaying. My steering was a little lighter so I think I need to tighten the bushings another thread or two. The best part is I didn't have trouble lifting the 27lb receiver, ball, and housing! That's the reason for switching. It was quiet and no problems backing up and un-hitching was really easy. For our set up and my weight lifting restrictions I think this will be a great solution. Thank you again!
