X23B Fresh Water Tank Overflowing Losing Water

My fix to an old problem that I took care of this weekend.

My solution to the fresh water tank siphoning off and losing water after filling in the X23B. It seems there is only a short piece of water line that attaches to the top of the tank and drops through the floor to act as a breather. Problem is, that the line is only about 10 inches long and much lower than the water inlet where you fill the tank. Water will start to siphon off if you fill the tank completely or if it sloshes around when driving because the hose is to low and to short. You can access this area in the X23B through the cabinet under the fridge where the water pump is located and where the water tank inlets penetrate through the floor and you can see the water inlet in the side of the trailer from here. I added a 3 or 4 foot section of hose from Home Depot with a connector and a couple hose clamps, made a loop in the hose, and positioned it higher than the water inlet....PROBLEM SOLVED.

Pics attached
1. Purchase Hose Home Depot (Pic 1)
2. Pull short white hose through floor and attach new hose with 1/2 barbed connector and 2-hose clamps from Home Depot. This is much easier than trying to remove the hose clamp off the tank overflow because it is to hard to reach with a tool. (Pic 2)
3. Make a loop and position hose (Pic 3)
4. Push hose about 8 inches through floor. (Pic 4)
5. Everything Complete (Pic 5)

I fixed this problem by connecting it to the breather vent on the gravity fill. If you look in your picture, the gravity fill port has a nipple on it to connect the vent to. Why Jayco doesn't use it? I have no idea.

Excellent solution!

The installer must have been out of hose and did not want to get another roll. I had a similar issue, but my hose maybe was 18" long. I was able to route it up as high as possible and still have it just through the floor an inch or so. Then I secured the top of the loop to the wall. We have not had an issue since.

I did consider inserting a 1/4" barbed irrigation fitting to the top of the hose and to the inlet vent (Jayco caulked mine shut), to break the vacuum.

Multiple threads on this topic. Here's another cheap and easy fix, further described here in one of the other threads.
