X23B Propane bottles

Question for the group. My X23B came with two 20# LP bottles and a bottle cover. I use less propane with this rig than I did with my pop up, but I'm considering upgrading to a pair of 30# bottles. Having an additional 20# of LP gas on board for longer trips makes sense to me. Has anyone else done this? Does anyone know if the same mount and cover fit with the larger bottles? Any issues with the top of the bottles interfering with the front bunk when its folded out?

A 30# bottle of propane is about 6 or 7 inches taller. It might clear the bed but you will have to get a taller cover. And I don't the taller cover will clear the bed. Not sure how cold it gets where you camp or how often you go. We go through about 1 to 1 1/2 20# bottle a season. In mid May it can get down to 40, in Oct we've had temps as low as 35.

Also don't forget the additional tongue weight.

I don’t believe you will have the clearance under the bed for 30lb bottles. It might be easier to just carry an additional 20 lb. bottle with you when you think you may need it.

Doc, I already increased my tongue weight by about 50 lbs when I added the second battery and box. I'm thinking about adding air bags to my Durango.

30's will fit under the fold out bed wings, but you will need a new taller 30 lb tank cover. With the bed down, it's a little tight to get inside from the top to switch the tank valve, but you do that so infrequently. In my picture you can see the 30 lb tank cover. I also pull with a Durango.

Keep in mind that the air bags will help level it but will not increase the rated hitch and payload capacities. They also will not put very much weight back on the front wheels which is what the WDH does.

Doc, that's what I'm after. Already using an Andersen WDH but the rear of the Dango sags some. I just want to level it out a little.

Some sagging is normal. Unless it's more than 1.5" lower than stock height I wouldn't worry about it. It's the front end and keeping weight on the front wheels to maintain steering control that's important.
