X23b steps

Hello has anyone successfully installed after market steps on their X23b. Doesn’t seem like the door will open far enough

Our first TT was a wonderful 23B. Our door had a gas strut if I remember. If yours is the same perhaps the strut is too short or mounted incorrectly.
Info on your 23B and pics will help with your problem.

Yea the gas strut doesn’t allow the door to open beyond 90%

We had to remove the gas strut to install MORryde step above steps. The door has to swing way out to fold down the steps.

The strut keeps the door from hitting the awning when it's out. Before buying steps, run your awning out, pop the strut off the ball under the door, and see if the door opens far enough for the steps you're looking to buy. Otherwise, you'll be forced to move the steps only when the awning is in.

Does the door open enough when the awning is in to get the steps to drop

That's going to require some careful measuring on your part, and comparing that to the brand of steps you're looking to buy.

I watched some folks who had the flip up steps on their 5er last week, and their door had to be flat against the side of the coach to get them in place. That's the only experience I have with them, with the exception of going up and down a lot of them at an RV show!

Installed Lippert Solid Step on our trailer and the gas shock had to be removed. I replaced it with this latch: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Door has to be fully opened to put the steps up.

When we first installed our MORryde steps I thought, how am I going to get the door open enough to take the the steps down with the awning out. Then it dawned on me that I would have to have the steps down to get inside to let the awning out, and the last thing we do when leaving is put the steps back in. I do miss the gas strut, but love the steps.
