2016/2017 Greyhawk/Redhawk Recall

Got a notice from Jayco today about certain 2016 and 2017 Greyhawk and Redhawk Class C's equipped with leveling jacks.

Some MAY require reinforcement to the mounting bracket of the leveling system's mounting bracket. Our 2016 Greyhawk happens to be one of those affected, per Jayco.

Even though our warranty is up, per the letter we received Jayco will take care of this through our dealer.

Received the same recall notice today. It says it is for the mounting bracket on the hydraulic pump. Sure hope my pump doesn't fall off before I get it in.

I sent an email to Jayco and they responded that my 2016 Greyhawk 29MV is also a part of the recall.
Now the fun begins...

Well, I took a look under my unit.
It seems that I have yet another variant of the mounting bracket attachment.
I forwarded pictures of my bracket to Jayco Motorized, asking if this needed to be fixed.
They responded: "Since this appears to be welded to the C-channel I would say that {repair} is not necessary, I would however recommend if you need to have service work done in the near future to have this at least inspected."

I'm not surprised that Jayco may not know what they've built.
My opinion, and it's only my opinion, is that they all should have been built like mine was.

I'm going out now to squirt some paint at it.

I inspected mine while on my two month trip as I was replacing the contactor and control unit. Mine is also welded to the frame rails and shows not sign of cracking. Regardless, I have the appointment for the inspection/fix so if something happens I can have a chat with Jayco about it.

Ours fell off within having the RV for less than 6 months in the middle of nowhere in Colorado. Tied it up with straps and drove to Las Vegas for repairs. We were having the gas issue too (unable to put gas in the tank) and were using the jacks to tilt the RV up so the gas would flow into the tank. We had to use gas cans to fill the tank to get the Las Vegas. Repairs at Camping World took 2 1/2 months and the gas problem wasn't fixed until months later by my husband (with Jayco's blessing).

I went out and looked at mine, which needs the recall done, and it strikes me odd that the vertical support is a whopping 3/8 inch, but the C channel is only 3/16. Not even an 1/8. Doesn't strike me as sensible, but I'm no pro weldor.

Just to clarify....3/16 is heavier than 2/16 (1/8)...or am I missing your intention? Maybe 1/4 versus 1/8? Thanks.

Doing pre Trip check and while looking under the MH noticed that the hydraulic fluid resivoir and pump motor had broken loose and were almost on the ground. I have the gusset on the support bracket but it broke just above the gussett. Had to remove the whole system and support the levelers until I can find someone to fix this mess.

It looks like the factory fix would not have prevented that failure. It does not reinforce the area where it broke.

Exactly, will get it welded back on with some additional support. Not worth using warranty or dealership in my opinion.

Mine is at the dealer right now and I am concerned about the competence of their repair. I am considering going and getting it and taking it to my son-in-law who has a well equipped welding shop.

Your photo, however has created a question in my mind that I hope someone can clarify. My set up looks roughly the same, except the piece of channel that holds the pump fits flush to the rail of the chassis and they tack welded the channel to the chassis rail (at the factory).

The photo appears to show the channel extending well below the frame rail. Is that correct, or is it just a camera angle thing???

Yes it extends below the frame rail by the width of the gusset which is about 2 inches.
