2016 Eagle Recall

Just FYI - got a letter today that the pre-wiring for solar in the 2016 Eagle Half Ton 5th wheels and Eagle Travel Trailers was not properly done... and may cause a fire

They say it's only a 20 minute fix at the dealer (LOL!).

Considering whether to check into doing it myself. I have no faith in the dealer. You all have jaded me.

I'm betting that if you can get the pertinent info from your dealer or Jayco that you're more than capable of fixing it yourself. The big question is if they'll tell you what the problem is.

They will not due to the potential liability, it must be signed off by the dealer, or JAYCO'S service center and documented.

The letter says they neglected to connect the solar prep wiring through the fuse box, so that a short could produce a fire.

One would have to know where to look for the right wires, I suppose.

Uh oh, like Grumpy says, it's one for the dealer/Jayco. Gotta love it!

Just like your car, they won't let you do a recall fix either.

I wonder if this is for the "solar on the side" or the "roof mounted solar"?

Perhaps there's no fuse in line with the cable feed

I'll check.

I seem to remember taking 3 wires off the negative post and attaching them to my shunt when I put the meter in, but not all of them were black. I thought I took a picture of my shunt after install, but not so.

I hope none of the wires were black on your negative post!

Snuck a peek in there. 2 black wires and one smaller gauge white wire.

hmmm... maybe in your rig then.
White is negative and black is positive in all the ones I`ve owned.
I still get confused

I've got one red wire to the positive post, then the 2 blacks and one white to the negative. When I installed the shunt, the wires were transferred straight from the negative post to the shunt, so if it's messed up, the dealer did it.

Ok.. Disreguard what I just said. I have no clue how they wire HT's then.

Talk about a company being inconsistent...boy!
