Atwood Mobile Products has determined that a safety issue may be present in the 8935-III AC and 8940-III AC Atwood furnaces powered by 110-volt/AC power (12-volt/DC models are not affected). There have been gas control valves which are suspect and need to be replaced. The suspect furnaces are contained with a manufacturing date between May 18, 2009 and March 29,

Neither recall applies to an RV they don't use 110v furnaces.

I got a recall letter for mine yesterday. Have to take it in for inspection for melted wires, if wires are melted then a new furnace, if no melted wires, then a fiberglass sleeve to be installed, all free of course. Except for the gas/time/effort/inconvenience/etc.,

I received the same letter today for my 2018 SLX 224BH. We won't be using the furnace anytime soon so I'm not in a big rush to get it to the dealer during prime camping season.

I don’t believe this is the recall that just came out.

This is the one I saw on FB.. did it mention units manufactured in 2017 or something like that?

Furnace recall: Got a letter from Jayco today.

Anyone else get a letter from Jayco about the furnace? Seems there is a service bulletin out about it. Reads like a recall.

My letter states:
TSB #18-003
Dometic has determined certain small & medium Dometic/Atwood furnances (AFS, AFM, DFS, DFM) made 10-2017 thru 3/20/18 with SN 73985322-81099541 require a service appt. These furnaces were installed in certain Jayco Towable, Jayco Motorized, Entegra, Starcraft & Highland Ridge products.

An omission of a plastic wire tie to hold or suspend the heat exchanger limit switch wires up and away from the exhaust tube, could allow the limit switch wires to potentially melt on the vent terminal, shorting to ground and cause either the fuse or circuit breaker to blow, or the sail switch to become inoperative. The safety devices in the furnace perform as designed and prevent the furnace from operating.

At the time of inspection, if the limit switch wires are melted at any point along the length of the wire or are laying on the exhaust tube, the servicing dealer will contact Dometic to obtain authorization for the removal & replacement of the furnace. When no issue is found with the wires, a fiberglass sleeve placed in the appropriate area will prevent damage to the switch wires.

We received one on Thursday. `Since it's in the 90's right now, I think I'll wait until September to make an appointment. I wish this was something we could check on our own and make a repair without needing to drive to the dealer.

I may do just that...fix it myself. I know how to work on these furnaces. I can't see where taking the front cover off and checking for melted wires can hurt anything. If the wires are ok I plan to wire tie them up and be done with it. If they are burnt I'll button it back up and let the dealer replace the furnace like the letter says.

I'll keep you posted!

Good idea...I'll take several and post them. Not sure when as I have been busy for some reason but hopefully soon. I have a trip coming up and want to get this sorted out.

Got my letter the other day, too. I did remove the stainless steel outside vent (4 screws) and take a look inside with a flashlight. I could see the 2 wires they mention. In my case, they are blue and appear to be tied up with a nylon tie. They are about an inch away from the exhaust tube. That's as far as they can be pulled back, so I would say all is good.

For what it's worth, there is no way to get a hand inside there. The furnace would have to be removed from inside the trailer to do anything about the wires. It took me about 5 minutes to check this out.

I know - I should have taken a picture, maybe someone else will.
