They probably won't spend any more money to try to get them back. They can probably re-cycle some of the old tanks to recoup some of their costs.

I was planning on keeping the old ones so I could shoot them at my son in law when he steals my beer!

Ours just came yesterday. Didn't make it in 20 days but that was no big deal. Pretty easy to just do the recall if you ask me.

I had 2 that were part of the recall. After filling out the online form, I got an email that I was to call for further info. I called with all the info verified with the Kidde rep. He told me that neither of my units were part of the recall.

I discharged and put them in recycling bin about 2 weeks ago. Yesterday, I get a new one in the mail with prepaid shipping to send the old one.

I got to call them and see how they want to handle it.

I have already replaced them on my dime.

Still waiting for a replacement that was called in on Nov 3rd. Called Monday and was supposed to have tracking by today . . . Crickets
Reported a second extinguisher last week and received an email yesterday saying that model is backordered and will likely be greater than the 20 days.
They are different models.

Put 2 in for recall in late October. 1 had been replaced, but the marine one hasn't. I've called Kidde and was told they would be back to me in 3 business days. Been 5 and still waiting for either the replacement or a callback.

X2. My replacement arrived yesterday so I'll call FedEx here shortly to come get the old one.

It took the replacement about 3 weeks to arrive after I filed the claim.

How do I get in the middle of this kind of stuff? I called them this morning and they did not know why I was sent one. They asked me to give them the Model & s/n of the one that they sent and told me that IT was part of the recall and I would be getting another on to replace it.
They are on back order.

If I were anyone getting these replacements units, I would verify they are good and not part of the recall!

Anyone get a recall for fire extinguisher? We have a 2003 Jayco and received some recall notice in the mail for fire extinguisher replacement. Camper is still in winter storage so haven't had a chance to check on it.

Kidde has recalled almost 38 million extinguishers with dates from the early 70's to 2017.

If yours is a Kidde, it is probably in the recall..

I sent in two similar Kidde fire extinguishers in early December. We got one replacement in late January and I called on why not two. They replied that they were sending out based on production of my model. Still no receipt of the second one.

They person on the phone did say the bad ones had plastic handles (mine did) and any with steel handles were not in the recall.

Still 3 months?

Recall update: apparently this Kidde recall is still active. I had previously sent back two extinguishers and received my replacements fairly quickly. I recently found a third extinguisher hiding behind my shop door (hint-don't hide your extinguisher in places that it won't be seen when needed). Filled out the online form and received a replacement within one week. They must be running low on replacements as my old three pounder was replaced with a new six pounder. Fedex picked up the old one next day for return.

I got mine within a week and sent back the old one using the box from the new one. But the new one is bigger and doesn't fit in the recessed bracket in our camper. So it's inside one of the cupboards for now.
