Our new 29MV came with a First Alert brand fire extinguisher. Guess they don't exclusively use Kiddie in new Jayco's?

The RV is in storage 200 miles away so I can't check it. However the Kiddie I have at home is in the recall. I submitted the on-line form and the replacement is supposed to be here in 6 to 8 weeks with instructions on how to return the old one.

Our 2015 came with a First Alert. Thanks for the heads up on the recall though.

Checked our three, the house one isn't in the recall, the boat one is and I have sent in the information for sending it to us and the third one, in our 26.5 RLS is a First Alert. Took me a while to find the one in the FW as it was hidden in plain sight right next to the entry door. Looked everywhere else in the living space before finding it.

I had two in my home that were in the recall.
I called them on the tel # and gave them all the info on my units. Model#, serial #, etc. The representative looked them up and told me they were not part of the recall.

My 2014 W Hawk came with 1st alert brand also but I would suggest to anyone who has one of the recalled units, is not to mess around with the return and replace process thru the manufacturer and just go to Walmart or similar store and buy replacements. They are not expensive and you won't be filling out all the forms and waiting for the replacement or having to return the original.
As another suggestion, fire estingushers s/b replaced every few years anyway. Many of us have never actually used one of these devices. An actual emergency is not the time to get your first experience. When you get your new device, set a controlled fire in the fire pit or somewhere safe at home and give it a go. It will give you a better idea of how they work and how long they last. Most of these small units only have a few seconds of spray and a fairly limited range. Also kind of fun to practice with.

The replacement extinguisher came yesterday. The old one is repackaged and waiting on a Fed-x pickup. The new one comes with instructions to repack the old one with the packing the new one came in and attach the return label on the package. A Fed-x phone number is provided for scheduling a pickup. This has been a zero cost recall.

I had two on the recall list in my house and one of them was 23 years old. Filled out the online forms and had my new extinguishers within one week along with shipping labels to return the old ones. Called FedEx and they picked them up the next day. New ones fit in the old brackets so no extra work to make the exchange. Great experience and service from Kidde.

I got four...three in the house, one in the camper. This has to be costing Kidde a boatload of money. I can't believe they're actually paying to have all the old ones shipped back to them, probably some sort of liability.
What could they do if you didn't ship the old one back? You already have the new one.
