WOW! Only a trillion bucks? Did you use a coupon or S&H Green Stamps (showing my age here) to get that deal!!!

I got a letter in the mail today about this, but doesn't this apply to those RVs with two tanks?

My 174BH is a single-tank unit and I don't remember anything that looks like the pictures of the 6020 that I've found on the Internet...

I just went out and checked, this is definitely not my regulator.

I'm wondering now if they're just shotgunning notices because their records are poor, and they don't really know what trailers got what parts.

I think that is part of the reason they want a picture of the regulator.

If it is a model year between about 2017 and 2020, and has the affected Winntec propane regulator, it is. Check your regulator number and dates against the range listed on the NHTSA list here…

Nick,
You should have received two recall notices in the mail by now. Given the fact that our two units were made within a very short time of each other, I can all but assure you yours in the the recall. Check your model number as LuckyDuck suggests.

If I wait on them I will be waiting until yhe Lord Himself return, the dealer just now made me an appointment for me to get my decals put on since last year when they repainted my front cap.

I called then emailed our home dealer regarding the recall.

In response to the Winntec regulator recall, I have reviewed the Winntec model 6020 installed on our Jay Feather. I believe the impacted Winntec unit date codes are for 2017-2019 years, but in the event that there are more that I am unaware of, I have attached pictures related to the equipment for your review.
  • VIN: xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
  • Regulator: Winntec 6020
  • Date code: N 20 30
See the attached PDF for the Jayco-internal inspection document and I've attached our Wintech regulator picture for reference.

I'd imagine they will be replacing it with the same make and model unless this turns into another Takata airbag fiasco at which point they will replace it with whatever is available.

Somebody on this site mentioned the Cavagna Changeover Regulator Kit from Italy but it appears to be out of stock everywhere.

Jayco told us they would not take regulators off of their assembly line to replace the recalled regulators. I can understand that during normal times however I don't think that these are normal times. There are hundreds if not thousands of bad regulators going down the highways and Jayco will not provide us with replacements. I think that is terrible customer service. I guess we will have to go buy a new 5th wheel, so we can have a good regulator.

Has anyone experienced a failure of one of these regulators? I have heard of some whose red empty indicator has stopped working; mine did exactly that early this fall. I have not experienced any noticeable fluctuation or irregularity in any of the gas appliances, and have not detected any gas leak at the regulator itself. Not YET anyway.
I contacted my dealer as soon as I received the first recall notice, but, of course, I am simply on their "list" and the dealer has no clue when replacements will arrive.

I have to agree that it is unacceptable when the manufacturers continue to build new units, consuming regulators that could (and should) be used to replace defective units already in use. An unsold unit, not in use, is not a life safety hazard. It is only a hazard to Jayco's bottom line!

My dealer said they were getting them in batches. Just got a batch the other day and they’ll swap mine out on Monday in the parking lot as I wait. Odd that some dealers say they can’t get them. I’d purchased one myself thinking they’d not have any and then on a whim decided I check before I did the work. Guess I’ll have a spare now.

FYI - the recall report was updated with the NHTSA in September -- now includes "N 17 XX, N 18 XX, N 19 XX and N 20 XX."

Regulators are not that expensive. If Jayco will not send a replacement, buy a new one and send Jayco the receipt. They just might reimburse you for part of the cost.

My dealer just replaced my regulator with a Marshall regulator I had purchased. Did this while I waited. All I paid for was two extra hoses. Said Jayco will reimburse me for cost of regulator and hoses. As luck would have it, the smaller regulator was bad also but they didn't have it in stock and is not covered by the recall. When I got home I ordered it. High pressure 30 psi

What "smaller regulator" are you referring to? The 2-stage component in this recall is a one-piece product.

The opposite side. The 2-stage directional regulator is the one under recall. My other regulator went bad too but not covered.

Got my new regulator installed this AM at the dealer. Took about 15 mins. Quickest service I’ve ever had. Different from the old.

What brand is that, it appears the red empty indicator is built into the selector knob. Looks like that blue part got a little ding!
