Based on the wording it looks like duallies only.

I have never seen them use a torque wrench on my 3500 Dooley. They always install them with an impact wrench. Interesting they want them torqued.

I've never seen a manufacturer that didn't have torque values for lug nuts, no matter what type of vehicle.

I called dealer yesterday. Service writer did not see my VIN on list for Recall #21V398. She guessed it is for alloy wheels only. I have cheapy steel wheels.

My RAM came with steel wheels but I had alloys installed right after taking delivery so as far as Dodge knows, I have steel wheels and still received an email about the recall.

The recall is Dually only and no parts available yet. Seems for all these years they had the wrong tq listed in the owners and service Manuel’s. The factory and dealers were using correct tq since they do print outs.

I never would have thought that I would bring my truck in for a "SAFTY" recall and get it back in a less safe condition!!! We winter in Louisiana in a small town called Amite. While there I usually have the local RAM dealer do my maintenance and/or warranty work. Before we left Amite in April I brought our truck in for an oil change before we hit the road. They said they could do the wheel stud recall since they had the parts in that they may need. No problem.............or so I thought! I washed my truck yesterday and for the first time noticed a lug nut was missing on the passenger rear wheel. It was there the last couple of times I washed it. Apparently it had backed out and fell off somewhere down the road. I checked the others and two of them were not seated. I went to the driver side rear and checked those lug nuts. Three of them were not seated and one of them I could remove with my bare fingers!!!! I called the dealer and they were stunned................no kidding??!!?? I suggested they drug test the service tech that did the work because he had to be on something!! I learned a lesson when they start fooling around with your wheels!!

I would suggest you name the dealer. Why not?

I can't answer for Ram or the dealership, however it used to be common to recommend re-tightening any wheel that has had new studs installed (or a new axle) after the first 10, 25, and 50 miles, then as recommended in the maintenance guide (if even recommended). The reason is that new studs sometimes stretch a little and other times the stud isn't completely seated and will do so with a little heat and time (miles) which will loosen the lug nuts. ~CA

Thank you. 5 loose lug nuts and one missing one is not excusable. This could have turned into a disaster for you losing a wheel or two. Completely avoidable on the dealerships part. In your case, I'm not sure what I would do. It's pathetic to have to carry a torque wrench after wheel service to check a service techs work.

No one, and I mean No One ever does a 10, 25, and 50 mi check. The great majority depend on their dealer or truck shop to do a good job. I'm not in the majority, I do check people's work when received. Then again in around a thousand miles. A torque wrench on 4 wheels takes me 15 minutes. Never had a dually, so I don't know about them.

The recommendations I am aware of were recommended not for the reason that the mechanic may not have torqued the lug nuts properly (which is a possibility of course), but more so because even a properly torqued lug nut can loosen up when you have new studs installed. Usually soon after the replacement.

Regardless if anyone normally does this, I would highly recommend for everyone here to check the torque on their lug nuts if you have the studs replaced and do so at the interval I mentioned earlier (unless Ram has a different but similar recommendation). ~CA

They did not have to replace the studs. Other than that, the only reason to re-torque after 50 to 100 miles is if you installed new rims.

owners manual calls for a re-torque after a certain number of miles when the wheel has been removed. Especially important on Dually rears!!!

From the owners manual:

"After 25 miles (40 km), check the lug nut/bolt torque to be
sure that all the lug nuts/bolts are properly seated against
the wheel."
