154bh New Axle?

I brought 2013 154bh to a local rv repair for a roof repair. They said my passenger side wheel is damaged and needs a new axle. They want 2700 for the repair. Seems a bit steep to me. They said they maybe able to repair just the hub, but want full authorization before they touch anything.

From the pics, what’s people thoughts? How hard is it to replace the axle myself? I feel confident I could do it myself. But I would need to drive it home about 20 miles.

I've removed the axle on my 154. It wasn't too hard you just need to make sure you have jack stands in a floor jack to put under the axle. You're also going to need an impact wrench for removing the leaf spring bolts then get pretty rusted on there. Same with the u-bolts. So if you're pretty handy person you should be able to do it yourself.

Thank you. Do you know what axle you used?

My opinion, FWIW, I'd be very nervous towing with a hub in that condition across the street, let alone 20 miles.
Hard to know what condition that axle is in until it's disassembled and inspected. It may be salvageable, but towing it 20 miles in that condition may destroy it.
Yep, $2700 is a lot compared to $30-$40 for a bearing set, seal and dust cap.
I have NO idea of your required axle or axle rating, but for reference only, here's a 3500# with brakes-

Looks like the bearings are shot. Lucky to make it 20 feet?
