2017 Hummingbird Propane Fridge on Fritz

Well it worked on the lot, but I cannot get the (Norcold N/306) fridge to work otherwise. Works fine on AC via shoreline. Tech spoke to me twice on the phone but now won't call back and dealer is a long drive away. The unit gets spark at the igniter but no propane. Anyone have control board issues with this relatively new model?

It could be something as simple as air in the line. Turn propane tank off, then back on slowly, light the stove and let it run a few minutes then try frig again.

Yep, I always light both stove eyes prior to starting the fridge, otherwise it takes forever due to air in the line.

Our first outing with the 2015 19RD showed the same problem. Worked on the lot, tested fine in the driveway. No good when boondocking.

Turned out the pipe from the gas solenoid in the fridge to the burner was not cleaned properly when it was made. Small bits of aluminum clogged the jet in the burner. I manged a field repair: yanked the burner and cleaned the jet. After loosing all the hair on my right hand.

Could your problem be a clog in the burner. Open the view port and have someone else switch the fridge to gas. If you see gas trying to light (not just the sparks of the igniter) order up a burner.

Also check the valve (very tiny) on the side of the solenoid.

I’ve had this same issue since I bought mine in May. But mine did not work when I picked it up and I already had plans so had to take it as is. Still have not had time to take it in but it seems my issue has to do with the pilot light not staying lit. It seems the thermal sensor that is supposed to send a signal to the gas valve to stay open is not working properly.

Thanks everyone. The dealer said it’s working for them without any trouble, so we’ll see when I pick it up how they got it to light. The air-in-the-line issue managed by lighting the stove eyes intrigued me.

I just went through my walk-through on Saturday and the tech told me to light the stove burners for a minute and the fridge will fire up. It purges the air out of the lines.

One more Norcold N306 lighting tip...
As some may have read, I have had trouble with the new fridge on propane mode, and thought it might be an altitude problem. Couldn’t light it at my home at nearly 9,000’, nor at 5,000’ in town. Today at Camping World the technician was able to light with the gas supply knob held in on the LOW SETTING. He said some of the units have a difficult time lighting on the high setting because the gas is moving to fast to light. So I drove it home and did the two-step process of first lighting stove burners for 1 minute, then his trick and the fridge lit in 4 clicks of the piezo! I also asked if he was aware of any kind of air/gas mix adjustors on the Norcold for altitude, he said they had them at one time but the company stopped using them.
