2022 A/C roof leak
2022 Jayco 24RE purchased April 26, 2022, after waiting a year to manufacture our order.
(This could be a big long story but even my attention span has limits.)
Skip ahead past 2 year warranty date of course, early June 2024 and first trip out this year moldy smell from AC ducts -first time. Noticed ceiling rippled-first tiem. Found some soft areas immediately adjacent to roof AC decking-also first time. Didn't notice before nor did dealer last year when I had them look at the AC because I heard some rattling of the fan and casing.
Sent lots of timestamped photos and a courteous letter to Jayco Service showing pics of me and my dicor handiwork up on the roof since the purchase. They flatly denied any responsibility. I sent another more strongly worded note with more pics. No dice. They essentially put it on me and the dealer.
So I contacted my dealer. They weren't impressed with being thrown under the bus and took it in and apart and made an assessment with a billion pics that they have submitted to Jayco for 'structural' 3 year warranty claim. This, because they determined that the roof sheeting had large gaps and were stressing the membrane.
They were extremely thorough and have the only evidence of where the water was seeping into the unit and destroying the roof panels nearby the AC. None of the 4 large AC hold down screws had any sealant on them and 2 were rusted inside, indicating, obviously water intrusion. So now they are on fire with Jayco and I am waiting to see what they can do to convince Jayco that the manufacture and installation of the AC and roof were their fault and that they should cover the whole roof replacement.
My dealer hasn't charged me anything....thus far. So we wait.
This will be either a 'way to go Jayco' story or one of many 'disappointed in Jayco'.
I think it's fair to give them a chance. Although I hate the feeling of paying lots of cash, performing due diligence, then potentially getting a kick in the a**.
(For fun, I looked at a 2024 small Jayco fifth wheel and lo and behold, those bolt heads are covered in dicor.)
I will update this post.

I am sorry to see this. I would be livid. Jayco has got to do better. There's too much of this. As soon as it's not 4,000 degrees outside, I will definitely check our ac bolts. Hang in there. Keep us posted.

CDNJayco: This A/C leaking problem is scary and definitely agitating. I had my A/C open a lot a couple months ago installing the softitart. I wish I had taken better notice of the bolts and sealants. Here I was (naively) assuming it was installed correctly. My unit was manufactured April, 2022. I'm going to inspect these areas as soon as my rig gets back home.
Guna: Me too! My camper is not here at the moment. It has been at the beach this past week, with my sister. I have the RVAirflow systems kit ready for install, but I need to do some serious duct tidying, with foil tape, first.
I need to do some serious inspection of the A/C when it gets back home the week. I wanted to do all that before it left, but didnt have time. Too bad, b/c this week's been pretty hot.
I noticed my last trip using the A/C ducted was pretty useless, the air was not flowing all the great and was not too cool. I had to keep the A/C on 'dump' only for any real cooling power. I know the ducts must 'gappy' leaking/pulling hot air from the attic space.
Got my roll of foil tape ready.

Update:
It wasn't easy but my dealer and Jayco had it out and Jayco has agreed to cover the full roof decking and membrane etc replacement under a Goodwill Warranty claim. Make of that what you will. I am pleased Jayco was able to be convinced and I am pleased with my dealer, Layzee Acres RV in Ontario, Canada for taking on this difficult negotiation on my behalf. Goes to show you how important it can be to have the right dealer working for you.

This is an amazing update. I'm very happy that your dealer went to bat with Jayco and Jayco did the right thing for you, in this instance.
What a relief for you. I'm glad the nightmare is over and your rig is on the mend.
