Another Black Tank Flush Post

I just helped another camper repair their black tank flush vacuum breaker / check valve. He flooded his trailer to the point where a large volume of water was pouring out his underbelly like the hose was just left wide open. We just removed the valve and made a temp connection between the 2 lines until he can get a replacement.

Seeing all the posts here and now seeing a failure in real life, I want to proactively replace mine with something better.

Does anyone have a recommendation on anything other than what appears to be the exact same part that Jayco installed?

Mine is easily reached behind a false wall in a cabinet in the bunk room. If I wait for the eventual leak / failure, it will destroy the cabinet so I want a quality replacement.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I removed the vacuum breaker from the equation completely. After 2 failures I was fed up with it and replaced it with and elbow. I removed the original hose connection on the side of the trailer with a simple city water connection that has a check valve and haven't had a problem since. The check valve at the hose connection prevents any odors from escaping and any black water overflow from contaminating any fresh water supply which I doubt could ever happen anyway. I've never really understood the whole vacuum breaker thing. They all leak eventually, why not replace it with something much more simple which does the same thing.

That was my thought as well. I am going to do the same thing. Thank you!

My black tank and one gray tank have dropped out of their brackets on separate occasions. Trailer has never moved since it was bought. ( towed to campground ). Seems the brackets suck

I need to find mine, was told in another thread it might be under the sink in the bathroom. It is going in for warranty work in October, so added to the list. maybe dealer will do this for me instead of replacing the valve

I removed my vacuum breaker valve and replaced it with a elbow before the first trip out with the then new camper. If sewage can climb up 3 feet, then turn 90 degrees and climb another foot then I deserve to die from the contamination. Jay
