Yep, our wheels are Sendel's. when Jayco sent a replacement rim when we had cracked rim last time, it came in a Sendel Box.

They are rated at 3580 lbs at 100 PSI

We have 7000 lb axles and when we had the 5er weighted a few months ago our highest wheel actual weight was about 3200 lbs.

The cracking in the rim spokes is most likely due to tight turns and backing into tight CG spots.

I went to the tredit site and from what I can tell they are distributors, not the manufacturers. I've been wrong before.

You are correct, Tredit is a distributor, not a manufacturer.

Tredit doesn't make anything do they? Thought they were simply an industry supplier, READ: Importer of Chinese junk!

Rob,

Are your original wheels T03's? Mine are T02's rated at 3750 @ 110 PSI and I'm glad with your experience so far.

Don't know but they came in a Tredit box from Jayco. They are T02's. I will look at the old rim to see if it has a manafac. tag on it.

New rims came in today, got them installed.

During removal and inspection of old rims, found 2 more cracked, one crack was easy to see from the outside, one was only visible from the inside, it had not cracked through to the front side.

The new rims are much thicker, heaver and should take care of our rim problems.

So you had all 4 rims cracked counting the first one? Wow!

I hope Jayco takes note of this.

I wonder why no one else has reported this happening, besides the article on the chinese knock offs. Seems that if it was a case of bad wheels more would experience it, not just all four of yours. The outcry would be deafening, since these wheels are so common on RVs (no recalls?).
Do you expect a statement back from Jayco or Sendel on what you reported/found with these wheels?

Rob, glad to see the new rims and hope they take care of your problem(s)!!

After reading this thread, I got to wondering if Rob's problems are 5th wheel specific, or can it happen to any other type of TTs'? I see where Rob attributes his problems to tight turns and backing in to tight campground spots. Is this something that those of us who are still new, or fairly new to TT's needs to be aware of?

I an not sure why all the failures, I agree these type of Sendel Rims are widely used and there are not widespread issues with them so it would seem it must be something specific to our 5er.

If the root cause is not the wheels but something specific to our 5er or the way we use it, sure wish I knew what we are doing wrong or different to cause all the failures.

Since we fulltime we are heavy but we are not overweight on any tire, axle or the 5ers GVW and we do move around quite a often.

Our right side wheel weights are about 2,900 lbs, left side wheel weights about 3,100 lbs (7,000 axles) and the trailer weight is at 15,600 (15,950 GVW) all verified by the RVSEF (RV Safety Foundation) scales.

Rob, I agree you should look past the rims, but there could have been a problem with just some of them coming out of production. Could easily have been materials or manufacturing process. All of us with the Michelin tires subject to recall have had to check ours. There are a lot of those size tires in use, but not a problem for everyone. ... be interested to know what you find out, if anything.

That's why I said that about a statement from Jayco and/or Sendel. I'd think that they would want to isolate what had occurred with your trailer. I'd also think that their attorneys would want to protect them if one of these fails at speed. Maybe one of them would want to have your dealer closely examine your 5er (axles, frame weight etc). Having these on my Eagle 5er makes me a little nervous and I'll be scrutinizing them much more.
I can't remember, did you say that you verified the info on the back of these to see that they were indeed sendel wheels? The age of your trailer and the dates on that chinese wheel recall match.
Happy New Year all!
