We had this happen to us last year on our 2019 Whitehawk. It had under 4,000 miles at the time. The bearing on the 4200 Dexter axle was very well greased. The bearing simply grenaded and took out drum and brakes. Fortunately a passing motorist signaled to us and we pulled over immediately.
We waited on the side of the freeway for Good Sams to send a tow truck to no avail. Finally, found a tow truck to get it into a very good repair shop. The owner checked all the other bearings and they were well greased. He replaced the axle as the blown bearing warped the spindle. His take that it was simply a bad bearing even though Dexter uses some of the best made
While in the shop the I had him install wet bolts.
Sometimes you just get a bad break.
