Baja SLX bearing maintenance

I just pulled the wheel off my 2018 Jayco Baja SLX 175RD to inspect the brakes and bearings after I pulled it about 5k miles last season. I'm pretty mechanical inclined and I've packed bearings on cars before but I was dumbfounded on how to get the hub assembly off to see the bearings and brakes? I popped the rubber seal off and I see a grease zerk behind it. Has anyone packed bearings on a trailer like this?

You'll need to pop off the metal dust cap and not just the rubber cover. The rubber cover is provided for those who want to use the EZ-Lube feature. Once you pop the metal dust cap off you'll be able to remove the cotter pin or locking cap, remove the spindle nut and pull the drum off. Clean and re-pack your bearings as usual and re-assemble.

I use a rubber mallet to coax the dust cap off. While turning the hub tap the cap down and away from the hub. I can usually get them off without damage. If the dust cap is deformed after removing or does not fit tightly after re-installing it’s best to replace.

Thanks for the help guys. I was able to grease them the other night using the easy lube feature. I'm glad I did as the grease came out very dark and a slight metallic color to it but not pieces. I'm guess this is slightly normal due to bearings breaking in? Figured I would recheck after the upcoming trip.

Second question what do you torque your lug nuts at? They appear to be a 1/2 stud so I'm guess around the 120 ft/lb. range?

I usually torque at around 90 to 100.
