Bathroom fan blade blew up…

Hi all,
The white plastic fan blade in our 2003 Kiwi Too bathroom ventilator fan self-destructed somehow. That whole fan/hatch assembly seems very non-serviceable or even removable to me…the little DC fan motor is tack-welded to its cross-bracket, and I got to say I just don’t see any straightforward way of getting the darn motor out and putting a new fan blade on its shaft…anybody here run into this? Thanks—Charley in Colorado

I just isn't worth trying to fix. It can be done, but replacement with the original or a better fan is in order.

Thanks Yooper, boy, I’m well on my way to seeing what you mean. Just getting the stinkin <screen> out of this old school (or 2003 anyhow) unit is…ridiculous. That said, I found a replacement fan blade right quick after I posted my query here, and it ought to just push onto the shaft (accessed from above, since I don’t seem to be able to figure out how to get the screen out!) and I’ll be done with it for now. I’m not overly unhappy with the fan in general, so I think the new blade will do the trick for a good while. Meanwhile, I see there are lots of good replacement fan units out there for sure. Charley

And by the way, I do see that the motor is attached to the cross bracket with a couple of little Phillips screws, but, they’d be a barrel of laughs to worry out, if one can’t take the darn screen off/out! But anyhow, don’t think I need to take the motor off currently…

I would replace with a Hengs Vortex like I installed in my RV. Quieter and moves much more air than original fan.
Maxxair is more expensive but has remote control available if that is a big thing for you. Off brands out there for anything you want like thermostat and power vent for extra money

The Vortex is a good replacement at mentioned above because you can do so without having to do any structural work and all from the inside.
