Bathroom sink drain stopper

My sink stopper, bathroom sink, has to be either closed or removed, there is no in between, where as partially opened for draining. Anyone else experience or have this problem?

Please, pardon my cluelessness...

What do you need with a slow drain?

It's nice to have the stopper in there so DW doesn't drop her ring down the sink, thus causing me no small amount of grief.

To the OP, I slipped a round hose gasket up onto the stopper and that keeps the stopper in the sink, but allows the drain to flow. I've had to replace it once because it eventually will break and need to be replaced.

I had a picture of mine somewhere, but I can't find it right now...

Mike, my description isn't real good. But the problem is, the stopper is either all in, sink fills up, or all out, big drain hole to lose stuff, and you have to physically take the stopper out so it drains. Every RV sink I have seen you could pull the stopper up, give it a quarter turn and it drained yet stayed in the sink, and prevented things from going down the drain.

Camper_bob, thank you for the idea. It will give me something to work on.

I thought maybe my sink is defective, or the stopper. But I haven't found anything to replace it with. I figured a home remedy was at task!

Rlawyo, they sell a two pack sink strainer at our dollar store here in Canada so they must be your hardware stores. They fit right over the hole and look like there part of the sink. CRome and they even have the bigger one for the tub.

We have one of those screens over the drain at the office.

Keeps all kinds of stuff from disappearing...

I noticed the exact same thing with out new trailer. I'm not sure what the thought process was behind this design but I find it rather annoying to pull the drain right out to use the sink.

This is what I use (similar to others). Got tired of the stopper closing everytime I started to shave

There is nothing wrong with your sink. It is just that they supply a very cheap plug. Many of us have this same problem and have solved it as Camper Bob suggested. Just go to the hardware store and purchase a rubber "O-ring" and slip it on. You can adjust the drain opening (how high the plug sits in the drain hole) by sliding the o-ring lower or higher on the drain plug shaft. Problem solved for about 5 cents.
