Batteries

I am the process of winterizing my various mechanical toys. Pulled the batteries from my slide-in camper (2), and the batteries from my North Point 311 RKTS (4). Placed them in a heated room on a shelf for the winter. That just leaves my boat which has 4 batteries. These are much more difficult to access so I have been seeking an alternative. I was told that keeping the batteries at full charge will prevent freezing. I checked the specs for my on board chargers and learned that they will maintain the proper charge in the batteries and are designed for long term storage. The only caveat was to make sure the water level was full in the batteries. I'm wondering if the charger in the RVs will do the same thing and if not, why not?

Jim, most RV's nowadays have 3 stage charging. I leave mine TT shore power plugged in. When batteries are full it just maintains with a trickle charge. I check midway through the winter season on a nice day the battery levels and add if needed.

RV charger will keep it at full charge, you just need to check the water level every couple of months.
