That’s just not true. There are several kinds of battery operated torque wrenches out on the market. We just happen to mainly use calibrated Makitas at my place of employment, but every major manufacturer makes them.

Vicr, They DO make a battery operated torque wrench. I added a link to one a few posts back. Maybe it is a good thing we don't work for you. I like new and improved tools. 😀

You want to see torque monitoring tools? Take a tour of an assembly plant. Having worked for GM for 30 years I've seen some torque tools, yes some battery they tried on the line but didn't work so well for mass production. A lot of the jobs had torque monitoring systems and they weren't just wrenches, they were basically your normal air tools such as an impact calibrated to shut off at a specific torque and attached to a torque monitoring system that would shut the line down if it didn't meet the correct torque within your work footprint (19') They do have inspectors with click torque wrenches that are required to check a number of cars per hour to insure quality. My point is there are specialty tools out there that may not be known to everyone.

Totally agree that Milwaukee is nothing like we used. And if you think every lug nut on an assembly line is torqued by a manual torque wrench you are sadly misinformed.

Guess some folks are too stubborn to realize that times do change. Pro Torque Tools makes a very nice battery operated torque wrench, expensive, but nice. And before I have to listen to how someone has used a torque wrench for 35 years or so, I was a mechanic for over 45 years before I retired. I've used torque wrenches, torque multipliers, and also impact wrenches, so yes, I know the difference.

That’s not quite true... Makita, as well as the other major manufacturers, makes battery operated drivers and wrenches. We use them at work all the time. And they’re great; I work in the aviation industry where the tolerances are a bit tighter than lug nuts.

I don't think anyone on the post is confused about the difference between a torque wrench and an impact gun (battery powered or otherwise). There are really two different discussions taking place within this post (I'm guilty)......so let's take a deep breath. This happens often on forums and frequently on here. No harm, no foul - LOL
