Battery Maintenance - Adding Water Question.

I popped the caps off today and the water level in the first cell is about 1/8" below the lip/line (see pic). The water levels in the other 5 cells are covering or just above that lip/line. Should I add distilled water to that first cell or is the amount of water below the lip/line so minuscule that it's okay for now?

I've never added water to a battery before and I'm not sure how low the water level needs to be before adding more water. I know that I'm not suppose to add water all the way to the top of the opening.

Thanks

I use an automatic battery filler. Takes the guest work out of how much you should add. Shuts off when it's just at the fill line.

As long as the plates are covered before charging, it's OK. If full charged recently, about 1/4" below the fill hole tubes is good.

Thanks for the link. I see the Amazon truck arriving at my door in the near future.

Most of today's batteries are maintenance free. What battery do you have?

I added a second battery which is located in a storage cabinet. Can't get to it to add water so I added a kit that fills both batteries at the same time. You just squeeze a bulb and it pumps water in to all cells. Each cell will shut off the flow when full. Love it!

Previously I would never get around to checking the water which I believe caused premature failure. Learned my lesson, maybe.

Deep Cycle/Starting Roadhawk Predator RV battery (DP24). It's the battery that Camping World installed prior to me picking up the trailer. I purchased the trailer (Jay Flight 145RB) in 09/2020. So far I'm not having any issues with the battery, so I don't want to replace until I have to.

I have one battery and it's up front on the tongue so access to it isn't an issue. The set up you have looks perfect for your situation.

At the risk of preaching to the choir: make sure you use distilled water, not tap water, to top off the batteries.

1/4 inch below the line is good. It allows the hydrogen gas to escape when charging. The gas is coming out so if over filled it will push the excess fluid/ acid out through the vent cap.
