Bending back door edge after attempted break in

I’ve had this happen on another trailer but it was much worse. I tried to straighten that one but made a mess of it. I used a rag and some pliers. How would you guys go after this. I don’t expect to make it perfect, but just want to bed it back a little.

See if you can rent, or otherwise buy a hand held sheet metal brake. Around $20 at Harbor Freight. Any big box will have it too.

I would use a sheet metal hand seamer.

Yep! Perfect solution for a nice clean fix.

Otherwise, I'd close the door and put a piece of wood that fits against it and give it some love taps. I'd put a soft rag or something between the wood and door.

Great suggestion as usual. I think I’ll try a combo of both. The sheet metal tool to get it close and the wood to finish it off. That should get it close at least.

X2!! You might think about putting some duct tape on the contact part of the tool, it should protect the finish on the door panel.

That should get it close. Aluminum stretches when it's pried out that far, it won't be perfect but it won't be real noticeable.

Found one of those tools at HD. Worked like a charm with dish towel to save the paint. Not perfect, but that’s ok. Thanks for the suggestion.

While there today, I thought too about drilling a hole in my steps and placing a pin/lock combo so they can’t be extended in the event someone does get the door open. Then I decided I’d rather have someone steal my crummy televisions than replace a window that gets busted because they can’t access the unit via a door.

Guess you have make the thieves work for it, but be careful you don’t make them work too hard.
