Bolt scraping the gray or black water tank?

We were camped last month at a nice little Texas state park (Cleburne) next to a couple who had just picked up a low mileage 2018 Seneca. It was their first one and we were able to share some ideas about camping, helped them figure out their water connections and how their electrical panel worked.

One thing one of them showed me was a bolt sticking out from part of their suspension that had been rubbing against one of their tanks, cannot remember which one but she showed me pictures of it being gouged with said 'too long' bolt, potentially scraping a nice hole if left untended. They had already had it 'fixed' by getting underneath and using a Dremel tool to cut off one end.

I have not gotten under mine yet to look as it is currently in a local shop for some other repairs, but has anyone else heard of this one?

I will inspect once we get it back but just curious if this was an anomaly or a regular thing.

Yes, quite a few members have observed this condition. Apparently based on your anecdote, it's not specific to Greyhawks (I thought it was).

Most people report cutting the excess off the bolt to keep it from touching. Someone even had theirs in for a warranty fix on it, but I don't remember what happened there.

I inspected mine because the issue seemed so prevalent, I was sure my unit would be affected too, but I had a good inch (or more) of clearance between the parts...

Well, I have to say, looking forward to getting our back and raising it up so I can get under for a good look.

Thanks

And come to think of it, I take it back, it was not a Seneca. It was a Greyhawk Prestige. Sorry.

You don't need to raise it, you should be able to see it without even getting on the ground IIRC. It's toward the rear corner of the tank, which I can see from the wheel well.

Or at least I don't remember having to lay down on the ground to see it....

Having a really bad case of CRS today!!

Anyway, you won't need to raise the unit...

Our 2019 Grayhawk MV was doing the same thing.
We just got it back from being repaired, where they replaced the tank.
What was left on the tank was pretty thin, so the dealer agreed to replace it.

The first trip to the dealer, that is 5 hours away, they had received the wrong tank from Jayco.

This trip, they got it changed out, and about 5 hours or so.
