Butyl Tape or Dicor Cap Sealant Non-Sag

Going to replace all old plastic pieces on outside camper sides (door grab handle, range vent, water connection, etc.) and was going to use Dicor Non-Sag Cap Sealant that was recommended by a local rv business. Was going to use the Dicor when replacing the old stuff but while removing the door grab handle and range vent I noticed these both had butyl tape around the screw hole areas. Judging by the brittle and faded plastic I think these are original pieces installed in 2001. So my question is if Jayco used butyl tape around the screws when attaching the pieces, should I use the same method or use the Dicor that was recommended?

Jayco used butyl tape for everything back in 2001. It held up this long, must be good. The butyl tape will not ooze out and make a mess.

Here is my take. If you are putting it between objects, then butyl tape. When over or around and object than a caulk like material like Dicor, OSI Quad.

I was also thinking the butyl tape was in really good shape for its age so going to use that method again. First time replacing everything on the kiwi. Thanks to both of you

You got your money’s worth out of the factory butyl tape, I would say it proved itself as good.
