Canted tire help

The passenger rear tire of my 264bhw trailer is canted. The tire blew out last time my friend borrowed the trailer.
Today while heading to campsite I looked and sure enough it looks like it’s canted Top goin in and bottom tilted out.
Need some help as to what can it be or how to fix it. Click image for larger version

The axle is bent on the side of the offending tire.

I had the same thing.......sure enough.....bent axle.

That tire will see, if not already, wear on the inside.

Well now question is should I replace it with same 3500# rating one or I should step it up to a 4200-4400# rating one.
Luckily buddy is willing to help me change it out just need to locate one and hopefully don’t have to replace the good one as well.

Have you had the bearings checked? They may be loose.

Guessing (based on my unit which is shorter than yours)
Weight will be "about" 6000#
Add cargo and freshwater.

Not much wiggle room with 3500# axles....same as mine.
Plus I am convinced those Lippert axles are not top of the line quality steel.
Mine bent on hitting a pothole.

Still trying to figure out why the front axle can be ok with smacking a pothole and the rear bends? Weaker is the only thing I can come up with.
They would both have to hit the same hole......

Personally, and if I had easy internet/dealer vendor access, I would choose the next higher rating.

Etrailer and Eastern Marine have scads of axle choices.

I stayed with a 3500# axle due to being 700 miles from the border into Mexico.
And it was readily available to me....

You will have to follow the measurement details to get the correct length axle.

Some come with the spring pad already welded on and some not.

Not terribly expensive......$120-$140 bucks.

Just wondering, Would it be better to have the same capacity axles?

If I had to replace one, it would definitely be a higher rated one, maybe after some research both.

First question, when you took that image was the side strain off the tire from making a turn? When I back into my driveway I get extreme canter.

Next I would lift the axle, and pull the wheel, check to ensure it was installed right, and verify the bearings.

The pic was take when I had just finished doing a u-turn at a gas station to top off.
I don’t question the tire being out in wrong as my buddy is a regular gear head and takes care of my trailer as good if not better then I do and I take care my trailer
I will have to have him help me check the bearing but I fear the axle will be bent.
He’s offering to help me swap the axle so grateful for his help
Here is s pic at our campsite we are at

Crawl under and look closely at the axle. Use a flashlight
The "bend" (if any) is hard to see.
Just a casual look is not good enough.

At the tire side of the axle.....there will be a slight tweak upwards, very near the axle hub. This is enough to throw the tire off a normal vertical plane.

On first glance, I could not see any bend in mine either.....it wasn't until I had another buddy look at it and he spotted the bend immediately.

Take the trailer for a quick spin, with your pal following behind to watch for wheel assembly wobble.
It there is no wobble, odds on it's the axle.

Or take it to an driveline shop and let the experts make the call.
Then you and your pal can do the swap out if the call is indeed a bent axle.

Bent axle...

Looks EXACTLY the same as mine....confirmed bent axle.

It's going to eat the inside tread of that tire......quickly!!

Have you ruled out the bearings? If not I’d jack that tire off the ground and see if there’s slack in the bearings by rocking the tire side to side. My neighbor pulled onto the street from a trip and his wheel looked just like that.
Rule out the simple stuff before tearing things apart and spending $$.

Jayco replaced the entire axle under warranty since I had several CAT scale tickets showing that we were under the GVWR of the TT.

If it happens again I'm putting a 5k lb axle under it.......

Ok everyone thanks for the help and going to replace the entire axle.
I am the second owner so the warranty thing is out of the window.
Does anyone know what size axle the come with? Basically not sure what to order. I want to reuse my same tires if that matters.
What do I need to know?
This is a picture I have of the axle

I would call the number for Lippert Customer service on this site: https://www.lci1.com/support-spring-axles

The specs for the 3500 lb axle you gave are on here.
