Changing Flat Tire
I've been doing research on how to jackup the trailer to change the flat tire that I will have at some point in the future I came across the Trailer Aid. Has anybody used one of these. Do they work? Almost seems to good to be true.
Thanks

A couple of boards work just as well, but I have heard from several folks that they like the Trailer Aid.

Lots of reports they work great. You would have an issue for those with the wide stance axles. You must have two axles, I have not heard if they work with triple axles.

I use the Anderson levelers for my Whitehawk and using a single leveler will lift the other (flat) tire off the ground. So the Anderson's serve a dual purpose in my case.

I've looked at them, and for the money, I'll just use my leveling blocks.
From what I understand, they work great though.

Every truck has a jack onboard that's what I use. By Torflex axles you can put a jack between the axles. With a Jack you have more control on the situation.
With regular leaf springs you have to Jack before the spring or after the spring on the chassis. Leave the combo coupled together and use the emergency brake and block the wheels on the upside of the flat tire.

Assuming that since you mentioned the trailer aid, you have dual axles. They work great. I am one of those who has used leveling boards for years. On the wide stance axles, I find I have to pull up onto higher boards/levelers/etc. to get the other axle off the ground. When it comes to the trailer, I haven't used a jack in over twenty five years (Unless of course it's a single axle trailer).

The one time that I needed mine, alongside a busy Interstate highway, in a rain storm, it was a life-saver!

Duh... I never thought of that; great idea! Next time I'm out I'll give the leveling blocks a test run.
Thanks.

Since I put G614's on my rig, I have almost forgot what a pain it is to change a tire.
I do still have everything I need and also have GSRS on speed dial.

I'm glad you brought that up; I'm confused by GSRS. I've used AAA for my autos for years (most of my life). I signed up for GSRS last year when I bought some stuff at CW and I'm constantly getting mailers from GS asking me to upgrade. What package/level should I have?
Thanks

I have the Standard coverage plan. It covers fuel/ jumps/ tire changes etc. Also towing for any car I am driving. As life members we signed up for auto renewal at $112 a year with no price increase as long as wee pay it annually.
I don't know much about AAA but did have Allstate once and it was not satisfactory. I have had GSRS for 13 years and am completely satisfied with their customer service. That is all any of them have to offer because they all contract with the same local providers to do the field work.

I carry a bottle jack in my truck and one in my fifth wheel. I have always done this and they have been used to help others, never for my use. I don't run trailer tires but 3 years because I know that time is what de-rates natural rubber products.
