Cleaning roof

Hi, i havr\e never washed an rv roof in 30 yrs and never had an issue. The last 3 units including our current classc has tpo roof, no black streaks. I inspect the roof seals quarterly and the roof looks a little dirty but who sees it, the rain and snow does a good job. Waste of time and risk. I am 79 in 3 months in great physical condition.

Funny as just did roof with some car soap before reading this... Also washed front cap (bugs) and back end (road grime) and bits elsewhere....

I just cleaned my roof in preparation for roof coating. 3qt hot water, 1qt bleach, 1 cup Trisodium Phosphate. Awesome cleaner. Never seen better.Hot water is used to desolve the TSP.

Bleach is 6% Sodium hypochlorite. So, might be cheaper to just spray bleach or pool chlorine which is 12%?

Yes, that is it. I didn't realize HD and Lowes have it. I've always seen it at our local Menards, but I've never really searched the cleaning supplies section of HD or Lowes either.

Nope not a bit, HOWEVER, I didn't give it much rinse water at first so to keep the majority of it in the gutter and let it run off the gutter ends instead of all down the side. I did rinse it quite thoroughly though. I did get some of the initial rinse run down the front cap and it didn't do anything there either.

Good deal, mine is filthy, by the apparent black streaks and black knee caps from kneeling down working on other things...will get some of this and get after cleaning...hard to clean ours as don't have a location to do it except at our storage lot. Once get out on the road full-time, will do this regularly.

Mine has some black marks on it also but they were from the black rubber hose I was using. Over time they've scrubbed down and some now gone. I switched to one of those soft somewhat collapsible/expandable hoses. Mine isn't one of those 50' hoses that collapse to a coil like 5'. Mine is a soft outer that stiffens up with pressure in it and when there is no pressure in it it will shrink down in diameter and will stay straight or wherever you left it. It coils up as small as you want it too. It doesnt leave any marks on the roof either. I was a little concerned as to how well it would hold up being drug all over my concrete driveway all the time and I've had it for like 3 years and its holding up very well and I use it all the time.

LOL 73 and not interested in getting on another roof that is functioning as designed. Now if I start getting black streaks down the side (I'll get someone else to get on the roof)

I picked up a 64oz jug with a hose sprayer attachment, Let you know how it goes! Need to get up pretty early here in north Texas as it is typically in the 100s these days, though we are having a 'cool' spell. Only in the upper 90s this week...

Yes, my thought exactly. What about all of that chlorine running down the sides of the rig, in the awning and other fixtures? Has to make one wonder.

I use it to clean stains off the awning and it's never hurt it. As far the sides, if any did run down the sides it didn't do any damage there either.

Will post 3 sets of pairs of photos, roughly the same cropping, showing before and after shots.

Some areas did really well and look far better than before. A couple of spots, coincidentally next to both AC units look still a little darkened.

More shots. One thing, it took two tries to get it looking like it does in the after shots. The 2nd coating I left on a while longer than 10 the recommended 10 minutes before rinsing.

One other comment. I would probably try a different version of this, rather than the one I used (64oz), attaching a garden hose to the built in sprayer. It seems to me I was diluting the product and also due to the roof curve, looked like quite a bit ran off, hence my two applications. I would try the spray bottle next time to see if it stays in place longer before rinsing.
