WFCO customer service has been an excellent resource for me in the past. I would call them first if you plan to use their replacement. There are others to choose from.

If at some point you would consider Lithium batteries now would be a good time to get a converter-charger that can accomodatr that possibility. Progressive Dynamics has some options and are working on better charge profiles now.

The Progressive Dynamics PD4655VL is a direct replacement for the WFCO-8955PEC. I swapped my 8955PEC out for this model in early 2020 and have been very happy with the performance of it. The PD4655VL model has a jumper to support a Lithium charge profile though at the moment I'm still running a pair of 6v Trojan T-125 GC2's.

Of note when swapping this out - if you don't want to use the optional remote pendant to allow for override of the automatically selected charge stage then you will also need to swap the 12v DC distribution board. The board provided in the PD4655VL kit has a small button on it that you can push with a small screwdriver to use the override feature.

Below are a couple of pictures showing the original 8955PEC unit along with the swapped PD4655VL and new DC distribution board showing the location of the charge stage profile override button. I have since added in the remote pendant so I no longer need to use the override on the distribution board.
