Cracked bunk support

So my wife was adding some new sheets comforters to our new to us camper. It’s. 2017 264bh.
While she was on the top bunk the thin plywood cracked. My wife weighs about 135 and sticker says it can support 600lbs.
Has this happened to anyone or know best way to fix it? I am thinking of getting a sheet of 1/4” plywood and cut it to shape and put it up there. Is there a better way?

If its just the plywood that cracked and the sticker says 600# max I would use 1/2" plywood since it doesn't weigh that much more but will give you more strength.

Mine hasn't cracked that I can see, but I've heard some horrible sounds when I've gotten on the top bunk and put all my weight on one knee or one arm. I think it's 600lbs over all, but I'm sure there's a much lesser per square ft limit. I try to spread my weight out now when up there.

I removed the top bunk from our 26BH, piece by piece, so I have a good idea of how they're constructed. They use a reasonable amount of 2x2's, so the frame itself is fairly robust, at least by trailer standards. But, as you discovered, the skin is thin.

Half inch ply would get the job done with extra peace of mind. I tend to over-engineer things, but I'd be happy with a sheet of quarter inch luann ply up there on top of the existing skin.

Six hundred pounds, though. I suppose they tested and ran the results by their legal team, but there's no way I would sleep in the bottom bunk with two 300# people up there Or, three 200# people .

3/8 or 1/2" plywood cut to fit sounds like a perfect fix to me.

You might be better off adding supports instead of thicker plywood.........

On my Seneca, the supports are the issue. Take a look at your supports and see if they are just stapled in. Mine were stapled in as to allow gravity to basically undo the staple...it was a stupid design. I put some L-brackets in and screwed the supports to the frame and now it is MUCH better.

Well we put a 1/4 sheet on top of the old one and used some small nails to hold it down. If it cracks again I’m ripping both out and going 1/2”.
