Cracked ladder? Warranty issue?

Hello friends,

My 32BHDS is under warranty. I go up on the roof quite a bit to sweep off the slides before moving on. I am not a heavy guy, 150 pounds.

I noticed that my ladder in back is now slightly bent in, toward my trailer, and the handrail (not the rung) is cracked in two places.

I have not spoken to the dealer yet. I may be hesitant to replace the whole ladder as that would entail some roof work where the ladder bends in and connects with the roof. I am thinking a simple weld might be preferable.

Any thoughts, full replacement, warranty, a weld? I am not overly concerned, but I want some king of a fix. Has anyone else had this problem. I am at work now but can post a picture if someone wants to see it.

Thanks in advance.

Ensign

I'd think that the RV is warrantied against any damage resulting from normal use. I'd imagine that this is the case, unless it was backed into something. I know that when I climb mine it does seem less than solid.

No matter the fix, I would get the dealer involved and inquire as to the warranty claim.

Per Jayco in 2009/10, a factory ladder installed (or Jayco dealer) should not fail under normal use if within the weight max listed on(for) the ladder (ours was 300lbs). Our handrail was not bent, but had a rung issue (if anyone interested, click here for rung issues). No matter, if your ladder fails from someone under 300obs scaling it, contact your dealer if you are still under warranty. Hope this helps

Ensign, definitely post pics when you can... it could help other out with the same handrail crack/'bend' problem
