Deadbolt not engaging - solved.

Posting in case this helps others out.

We took delivery of a new Highland Ridge 16FBS last week (Jayco Micro 166FBS clone). Our deadbolt would not engage most of the time. It did occasional work when we were level with stabilizers in place.

We didn't notice this during PDI (we did a rather extensive inspection based on the PDI checklist here too).

Today I put some black paint on the deadbolt and tried to lock it. That showed the strike plate was slightly too high.

I used a Dremel to grind out the strike plate where the deadbolt was hitting it. For good measure I also ground out a couple mm of the door jamb under the strike plate too.

Now the deadbolt works great!

As cousin Eddy would say, "BINGO!" Lol!
I had to do pretty much the same thing on my front door of my stick and brick house.
The strike plate on my trailer worked great for a short time when we first got it then started the same thing. Fortunately mine didn't need any up/down adjustment just some in/out. As time has gone on I've had to adjust some catches for storage doors and ODK door too.

Great solution. I did the same thing on my regular door lock. It was just so hard to open and close. 10 minute Dremel repair and it has been great since.
