Dealer cut my underbelly wrap...now what?

Took our 2 month old 24RBS to dealer to have a water leak fixed under warranty. The leak was at the fresh water tank. It appears on the left side they removed the screws to lower the wrap but on the right side they cut the wrap about three inches from the frame rail. I guess it was to much work to remove the clamps for the gas line to get access to the screws holding the wrap to the frame. To patch everything up they put some tape on it that didn't even survive the 25 mile drive home. Now the wrap is hanging down.
I could take one of two routes to fix it. Call Jayco and ask that they replace part or all of the wrap since they didn't build the thing right to begin with or fix it myself.
I'm thinking of trying Gorilla duct tape to patch it. Does that sound like a permanent solution or what would be a better fix?

Unfortunately, thats the way that dealer access the underside.....

I would consider getting a piece of wood (or composite trim) to put on top of it that you run screws up into it to act as a splice. I did that on my old fifth. Seemed to hold ok.

I would take a picture of it and send it to Jayco (service@jayco.com) and ask how they are going to handle the issue. This way it is on record with them in case anything else goes wrong. I am sure that they will give the dealer instructions on how to repair it so that it will last you a lot longer than a trip back home from the dealer. They also need to see how their authorized dealers handle warranty work.

If you go do it yourself use Aluminum tape, really sticks and water proof. I was told by an RV repair shop it is commonly used and most RV dealers will have the under belly material in stock. I used it to repair tire damage last year and no issue so far.

I'll ride that pony. Clean well where you attach the tape, buy good quality tape and you will prob have a choice of normal and wide, go for the wide. You may want to try some of that stuff IIRC its FLEX SEAL, anyhow Home Dept and Lowe's have, made by several companies, it basically a rubber compound, sticks like glue, does not dry out or peel off. I use it for lots of stuff I want to protect and or keep water ingestion. I would spray it over the tape...

Thanks for all the suggestions. I like the idea of putting something on the inside of the cut seam and running screws into it as long as i don't screw into the water tank.
I think i will call Jayco tomorrow and politely let them know that this hack job is not acceptable. Simply removing the screws would have prevented this. Is that too difficult?
Also the fact that i paid extra for the thermal package and now it is damaged really ticks me off. I'll let you know what they tell me.

I'm confused why your calling Jayco. They're responsible for their workmanship and parts. The dealer is responsible for the workmanship they do. Why aren't you calling the dealer and demanding they resolve the problems they created?

My thinking is to see how Jayco would recommend the repair should have been done. Is cutting the wrap normal? If they tell me the dealer did it wrong then at least I would have them on my side if I go back to the dealer.

I just purchased a roll of black Gorilla tape to use for this very purpose. I have only used it in one spot so far to see how it works.

My underbelly is a thicker material called Coroplast.

I did not know that they used a thinner material, on my thicker material they placed a piece of the thicker material over the place that they opened and glued it to the existing material.. I then put foam under the ends to seal it better as the material flexed.

Could be this is something used on a residential trailer.

I have had my underbelly opened 3 times now.. the first 2 times the tape failed on the drive home.. the 3rd time I left the RV on the dealers lot for 2 days.. and it has held up to over 5000 miles of driving this time.. Maybe they cleaned it better before putting the tape on or maybe letting the glue set for a few days did the trick or maybe both....

I have opened mine at the factory provided access many times. What I wanted to do it just put a strip of the black gorilla tape across the leading edge to prevent the "scoop" effect while under way.

If the patch is larger you could put some 2 sided tape between it to seal it. Once opened, I would want to keep it accessible but sealed in case I need to go back in there.

Gorilla tape is a great emergency repair but doesn't hold up well if you drive in rainy weather a lot.
