Deterring Squirrels
Anyone have any suggestions for keeping squirrels from chewing hoses? Sometimes we camp back-to-back weekends early in the season and leave our trailer on site. When we come back for the second weekend, squirrels have chewed holes in our propane hoses! Any ideas to keep the critters away?

Deterring Squirrels
Be sure to bring lots of duct to fill all the shotgun holes.

You can try putting stainless hose braid over the hoses...not cheap but it should keep them from chewing. http://www.amazon.com/Russell-632050...ess+hose+braid

You might try slathering the hose with hot sauce. Something really high on the Scoville scale ought to do it.

Deterring squirrels
We bought a few of the safety guards, looks like they will work...don't see how those squirrels will even be able to get to the hoses! First trip out is next weekend...can't wait! Thanks for the suggestions.

Hope you have better luck, ha ,ha than we're having the 3rd time around. The sink strainers were flipped out of the kitchen and bathroom sinks, squirrelly dropped black walnuts down both. It didn't stop there put one between the pillows - looked like a mouse peeking out. The critter is playing mind games, several nuts were placed between two sheets of bubble wrap on the couch.
We had already (several months ago) plugged/sealed most of the hole/openings with steel wool, expanding rodent foam, and covered large holes with hardware cloth. There was over 50 walnuts 1st time, lost count of the acorns 2nd time. Yes dryer sheets, moth balls and Fresh Cab were used.
The 27.5 HT is supposed to be 3 season, obviously well ventilated for summer only. All I can say after looking a the total picture, after 5 TT and no rodent problem, something is wrong in manufacturing.

Almost sounds like someone is having a bit of fun with you. Was the bubble wrap already on the couch?

Check with your local box home improvement store like HD or Lowes. Forget where I bought it but got a spray bottle (16 oz) of a varmint deterrent that was made from capsacin. Worked on a squirrel issue at the stick n brick might work in a CG, though don't touch your face after handling the hoses or anything else you spray it on.

Thanks for the info, I will check local hardware stores for varmint spray/liquid with capsacin.
Yes, we knew we left the bubble wrap on the couch.
The stick and brick sounds good. I'm leaning toward a "have a heart", there's a stream behind my 5er.
This spring (if it ever gets here) I'll probably have to take the bottom cover off and get serious.

I used a .22. I HATE those things. They are rodents and carry disease. I rolled through Arkansas a few years ago and they threw them on the BBQ.
