Dewinterizing today, forecast low 36/38 tomorrow

Does anybody see any issues w/ dewinterizing today? Forecast isn’t showing freezing temps in my area tomorrow night; lows are expected to be 36 to 38. Tuesday the high will be 65. My thoughts are if the weather man is wrong and the mercury does dip lower the 36/38, it won’t be there long enough to cause me any grief with a quick turnaround to mid 60s the following day.

What say you guys? Am I safe to get the plumbing going today?

When is your 1st trip?

Freezing point is 32 degrees. So if you do not foresee any lows below that for any extended period, you should be fine.

not a problem.. We got stuck winterizing with a troublesome and large air lock so it did not get all done before returning to subfreezing temps from Florida.

The temps were down around 0-5 degrees. Of course there was probably not a lot of water in the system. We did get the lock released and there was no damage.

There really is no time when we are camping when temps don't go below freezing at least one night during our stay.

We finally got to 64! Of course next week there will be snow and back below 32. It is exciting!

My first trip is this Wednesday - we’re taking the camper to Disney so getting the antifreeze out and the lines all sanitized is becoming something of a time crunch. NJ to SC on leg one, SC to FL on leg two; I’ll be at the Fort on Friday afternoon.

So no I don’t expect any freezing anytime soon; but I’m just wondering if I’ll be ok if the temps dip to 30-32 degrees for a couple hours if the weather man is wrong.

I normally do the water/plumbing in May.

You should be okay, but if you're really concerned about it, you could leave the cabinet doors open, the ones with plumbing inside, and point an electric heater at them, turned on low. That will keep the internal air temperature of the trailer above freezing and will protect the lines from freezing.

I thought about that, but my water lines run underneath my camper and are fully exposed. I’m thinking I’l be ok - the hourly shows it 38/36 for only an hour or two before its back up to 40 in short order. I’m just trying to play it safe.

If your really concerned, after sanitizing, pull your low point drains. That will remove most of the water, and allow and remaining water a 0lace to expand into if it does freeze.

Honesty if you taking off to warmer climates on Wednesday you should be fine.

Water has a high specific heat. Ergo the temperature of water changes much more slowly than air temperature.
