Does this look like the start of a tear?

Hey guys!

I just picked up this trailer and after some cleaning I noticed what looks to be a small tear forming. What do you guys think?

I would take a couple of really good pics and send them to Jayco along with vin. number. That way it is documented just in case.

Did that top picture come from being on roof? Can you shine a light upward from below to see if it is a problem? Underneath side of track have a smooth surface where the awning comes in contact?

Any separation like that is reason for concern. Still under warranty I assume?

This is from the rear of the trailer on the left side next to the ladder.

Unfortunately I’m the 3rd owner and it’s a 2015, so I don’t think so.

When in doubt, clean the area very well, slap a piece of Eternabond tape over the area, and never look back.

That tape works pretty well? I’ve watched a couple YouTube videos and it looks pretty good. I’ve also contemplated coating the roof, but not sure it’s quite necessary yet.

The tape is the gold standard of roof repairs and upgrades. Not only should you buy a roll for future use, most seasoned campers use it to seal all the seams on their camper roof before they even need it. It’s a “permanent” solution.
I’ve sealed every seam on my camper roof with it.

It looks like the best place to purchase is Amazon. Do you guys buy the Eternabond cleaner, Brake Kleen, or Acetone?

Anything else special needed to bond to the roof?

I used acetone but I think I’m going to buy some of their cleaner as I have a 5th wheel to seam seal and the acetone took a lot of patience as it seemed really strong and aggressive on existing sealant. I also bought my Eternabond from Amazon, it’s not cheap but worth the piece of mind. Don’t forget to get the roller or use a large socket as a roller, pressing hard and rolling the tape activates the adhesive ensuring it seals. If your going to get up there and do it go ahead and see what else you can seal. I did my entire front cap seal as well, this is a very common leak area where the fiberglass cap meets the roof.

One more.. I need to seal the furnace vent on the side of the trailer as well. The furnace was removed and the a new one was installed. What do you recommend for sealing the exhaust vent?

I use their cleaner and primer before applying the tape.

That'll work! Be sure to clean the area good before applying it.

Glad you are getting on this right away. I ignored something that looked like that on my last trailer. It cost me some major coin and time to repair. Plus I lost some good value as I disclosed the previous damage when I sold it.
Do you guys use the Eternabond while under warranty?
