Eagle 281RLS Black Tank Problem Solved

Hello folks.
First post after perusing for a while.
Lots of useful info compiled on this forum.

Full time living in a 2002 Eagle 281RLS 5th wheel.
Having repeated issues dumping the contents of the black tank has had me at my wits end.

To keep this short I won’t include all the troubleshooting steps I took.

The culprit was the 3” valterra bladex knife valve.
Gasket had rotted away and was allowing the liquid to drain out of the tank until a clog had formed around it. It would then hold fluid and fill up the tank as normal but with a build up of solids in the outflow of the tank. Simply opening the valve would not release the contents, therefore needing to be snaked every time to empty.
One thing to mention, if it feels like you are “slicing a clog” when opening/closing the black tank valve it is possible the gasket has failed and is falling into the path of the valve.

Replacement valve was $31 CND on Amazon.

Cheers
