Emergency Exit Window Prop and Adding Screen
We are excited for the maiden voyage of our new Jay Feather X-213.
Behind the sofa, there is an emergency exit window. It has no prop rod to keep it open, and it has no screen. Just two clamp latches to hold it closed.
While shopping RVs I noticed that some Forest River brands have a long lever-style red prop rod to hold the window open for ventilation. The flat prop rod attaches to the glass with a hinge for the prop rod, and the rod has notches in the side to hold the window open at various settings.
I'd like to make that mod, and then I'd like to add something like a magnet mounted screen to attach to the window frame. Some "peel-and-stick" magnetic tape to mount on the window frame and similar on the edge of a nylon screen.
Our rig also has a bunk room with a baggage door. I could imagine that a temporary screen would come in handy on that baggage door, too.
So that's what I imagine can happen. Has anyone ever tackled such a job, and if so, where did you get the stuff to do it?
We boondock exclusively, and open windows are all we have for "air conditioning." Moving from a PUP, with essentially 100% screen walls, to a hard side, we are anticipating it might be quite a bit warmer inside.
