But Flex seal can be painted on a screen bottomed boat and it will not leak.....

I think I would stay with Eternabond......

I watched a video recently...guy installed solar panels on the roof of his trailer. He put eternabond tape over the areas where the panel feet were going to go then drilled the holes through the tape and roof, installed the panels and covered all the seams and bolts with Dicor. Seemed like an easy way to make a leakproof seal on the roof.

As far as under the trailer...I used gorilla black tape. Very thick stuff and strong. I wiped the seam underneath with a rag, then folded the tape over the joint. Sealed all the areas that looked like they could be tighter under the weatherized belly of the trailer.

I just finished using Eternabond tape over my front cap seam as a preventive measure. I'm pleased with how it sticks!

So... this eternabond stuff sounds pretty amazing.

Questions: Does it affect the Jayco warranty? And if it does, who waits till the warranty is up, and who says they'd rather be safe and not care about Jayco's warranty?

So when you guys apply do you clean surface with a mild solevent like mineral spirits, or just soap and water?

For cleaning, I used water with a touch of dish soap and a rag. Nothing special as my roof was recently cleaned. If your roof is dirty, then a good wash is needed for anytime you stick something on there!

Yes it is suggested to use Mineral Spirits before applying Eternabond.

You do want to be careful with mineral spirits though if you're using it on a "rubber" roof membrane. You just want to use it sparingly and allow it to completely evaporate before you put anything down, and careful not to let it pool (like if you spill) on the membrane.

It does work VERY well to clean before application though, and a little goes a long way.

Does putting eternabond on the seams affect the factory Jayco warranty?

And who still puts it on regardless of the warranty?

Send a message via Skype™ to Foretm
I’ll be replacing my factory bathroom fan with a fantastic fan this weekend. Would you use dicor over the screws and outer flange, or would you use eternabond instead? Or perhaps both? Which is the best way to seal it?

I’ve read eternabond is very difficult to remove if necessary.

All the instructions for various applications can be found here.

When I did mine the instructions said to use mineral spirits to clean. It worked great. I have been using mineral spirits for nearly 40 years to clean various surfaces. I have never had it eat away at any plastic or rubber. It simply isn't all that "hot" and it flashes off very quickly. The only time I have not used it is for paint prep.

Thank you for reaching out.
Many people have had success using Flex Tape for this type of application.
It will also have excellent adhesion on many surfaces including PVC, acrylic, metal, steel, copper, aluminum, wood, ceramic, porcelain, tile, glass, rubber, fiberglass, stucco, plaster, stone, cement, concrete, dry wall, EPDM roofs, some plastics, fabrics, vinyls and so much more. Some materials may take up to 24 hours to reach maximum hold. Have a great day.
Of course they are going to say that. They want your money. I'm not saying it's a bad product. I'm saying stick with what is known to work.

And this is really a serious question?? Comparing a "as seen on TV" brand to a product that has had main stream use by millions for decades.

Yes!
Let’s see, should I use a product that might work or one that I know will work? Oh yeah, it’s cheaper too.
Oh my, what to do, what to do.
