Found severe water damage need help

Hello all,
I am a member on a few other camping forums but new here, I found this while trying to find info on our problem. We have a 2005 325 BHS. This is our our third trailer having had 2 Laytons before. The trailer has had its problems over the years some minor and cosmetic, molding falling off, screws coming out, shower door off track constantly, bedroom closet doors same thing always off the track. The rails on the underside of the bedroom hang down and have for years, I talked to another Jayco BHS owner last year and he had the same problem. When it started happening hubby re caulked it and screwed it back in but that did not last long. This last trip when we put the bedroom slide in the bottom rubber gasket folded in with it. When we got home we managed to get it back out but it appears now there has been some major water damage?? There is no indication of any water inside the unit but when we put the slide back in to travel last week the top started to fall out. The bed platform is solid when sliding in and out but it seems like the side supports are gone and you can push the top of the slide out from inside. On our return trip home yesterday while on 84 the top actually fell out about 8 inches. We wedged something in the top of the slide to keep it from moving. Has anyone else had any water damage like this and what do you think we are looking for in repair$$$. We are upside down on this trailer as it is. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

WOW! From the sounds of it, you have a serious problem. I have not had this problem but my thought on this is that you should take it to a dealer (or reputable RV repair shop) and get an estimate. Have you had the roof of the RV and slide-out serviced regularly? If so, I would take it back to whomever did the service work and say, "what's up with this?".

Just looking at a video on slides yesterday. Sounds like your motor is disengaged for it to slide out while traveling.

Check out this thread. It has a couple good reference video's.

Don't have a slide, so don't have a good recommendation.

Best regards,

It amazes me how many RV's have water damage of some sort. I have seen another brand with a problem like yours. I would suggest to contact your insurance company (if you have insurance on it). A lot of times they will insure water damage to the RV. I know there is a place north of where I live that advertises that. Chances are if you have documatation of annual roof inspections, they will pay for the repair or total it. If they total it, you may have to pay the differance that it doesn't bring unless there is gap insurance in RV financing? Good luck, Dave
