Frame Cracks

Just saw a thread over on RV.net where the owner of a 2008 31.5FBHS has some serious cracks in the frame webbing just over the rear axle area. Gonna be watching this area over time.

Here is a link to the thread.

Steve, thanks for posting this. I can see why your going to be following it closely. Has there been any other similar cases that your aware of. I may have a similar frame on my trailer. Has there been any talk about over loading the GVWR? That trailer is only 4 years old too. G I'll be glad I bought the extended warranty incase this comes to visit us.

From what I gather this is not an uncommon problem in both the Dexter and Lippert chassis. Seems to be caused by the twisting the frame does in tight turns, the cross member between the rails is not the full height of the webbing and it punches through eventually. This is why Mor Ryde came out with the X Factor and others weld 2" square tubing between the spring hanger brackets. Our trailer is getting this treatment tomorrow. You know what they say, an ounce of prevention....

I'm also having a 2" receiver fabricated on the rear of the trailer so I can put a bike carrier back there.
