Fresh water overflow

Is it normal for the freshwater overflow to continually drain? When connected to city water, the fresh water tank should not fill. Right? If so, is my pump stuck to open?

Welcome to the forum. The tank should not fill on city water. I believe there is a check valve that may be stuck open.

What I thought! Thanks! I dry camped for the first time in this rig and now the fresh water tank fills all the time on city water causing the overflow to constantly drain. Isn't the check valve located internally in the water pump?

I`m really not sure where its located but I have read where other members had this issue crop up in the past. If I recall correctly the valve is somewhere in the city fresh water fill pipe but I could be mistaken.

Thanks for the help. I will take a look. Don't want to use warranty if not really necessary!

You might want to get underneath and take a good look at your FW tank.
I'm not sure how much pressure or flow was going into the tank, but the overflows are pretty narrow hoses and you may have had quite a bit of pressure built up in those tanks and they are not designed for ANY pressure.

Just make sure the tanks or hose connections aren't leaking or bulging. If you've got the coroplast enclosure, you'll have to pull some of that down to get a look at the FW tanks.

Thanks. I have to do just that. I will have to remove some of the underneath insulation to get a visual. The drain line in fact does flow with a constant gravity overflow. When I disconnect city water it stops. I don't think I ruptured anything. Just continues to fill the FW tank with city water pressure applied. Still need to check any manual valves that may have activated when I used the dry camp for the first time. Thanks again!

I know there is a check valve in the city water fill but I think that is to keep water in the system when pressure is applied by the pump. My guess is that there is a check valve in the pump that is stuck open allowing the back flow into the tank. My camper has a shut off valve in the line from the tank to the pump. If yours has one it could be a temporary fix - just close it when hooked up to city water so there is no flow to the tank.

My camper has 2 valves behind the basement wall that are used for fresh water fill from a jug. Could yours have something similar that could be in a wrong position?

Slowly add a little water to F\W tank if its empty and cycle the water pump a few time to try to reseal check valve.
