Fridge door binds... ideas?

Hi, we just picked up a used 2009 Jay Flight 25RKS. The fridge door rubs/binds on the bottom opening side so much that you have to gently pull quite hard to open the fridge, and put a knee into it to get it to close tightly. We cannot see anything obvious that's causing this. The freezer door operates fine. The hinges all look good, there's even spacing around the fridge door. The fridge is located in the slide, if that could be affecting it at all. Any help is appreciated!

Since it is the bottom of the fridge door, loosen the bottom hinge and slide it upwards and towards the opening.

You may want to consider slightly repositioning the other hinges as well.

Also see if there is a nylon or plastic spacer/bearing between the doors and the hinges.

Too much beer in there! LOL!

Seriously - I wonder if there is a missing bushing. Like Mike837go said, there is usually a nylon bushing (spacer) on top of the bottom hinge and beneath the top hinge. If you are in an emergency situation, you could always take the top one and put it in the bottom, which gets more stress due to weight.

After thinking about it a bit, the bushings in that application are usually T shaped! If the cylinder portion is missing, that'll cause lots of grief.

And Scoutr2, THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS "TOO MUCH" BEER!

Ah, the bushing could very well be problem. I'm not home right now to check, but I was able to lift the door about 1/4" when the door was open, then try close it in the lifted position, however that did not help.

Thanks for the replies. And unfortunately there isn't even any beer in it! Yet!

I'll offer up the bad news to check.

See if the bottom of the lowest shelf on the door is distorted. If it has been bowed down, you'll have all kinds of headaches until it is fixed. (Ask me about my $50 side-by-side with icemaker.)

Wash the gasket on the bottom of your fridge with a mild detergent and dry. If someone upset something in the fridge, it will end up on the bottom part of the gasket. We had a similar situation with sticking gaskets and realized that something had upset in our unit and caused a sticking problem.
