gutter separation

As the picture shows, this is right where the awning attaches. Haven't had a chance to see from the top yet. Simple repair likely or an indication of other problems? This is a 2016 Whitehawk 26DSBH. Thanks in advance for any help.

I would attend to it ASAP before any moisture gets behind the 'back' of the exposed metal gutter rail and compromises the roof/wall structure. Gutter joints are seldom perfect, but shouldn't 'separate' as your photo shows.

The awning fabric attaches to the same metal gutter rail and does apply some degree of load...., but the issue may be a loose and/or missing mounting screw.

But as you stated, close inspection is required.

I check my gutter rails annually when I inspect my roof caulking joints and seams.

Somebody recently posted about a loose awning rail on a Seneca. There is a plastic trim that comes out that covers the screw. The poster found that most of the screws behind the trim were loose and a couple with broken heads. I am guessing this is what you will find here and like Rustic Eagle said, you should get that sealed up ASAP.
