Hardware for Jayco Accessory Receiver

We are picking up our 2" accessory receiver from our Jayco dealer tomorrow. It is the factory receiver for our Jay Flight 29rks. Do any of you know what bolt, washer, and nut assembly I should go with?

I am thinking grade 8 material: 2x bolts, 4x large flat washers, 2x lock washers, and 2x nuts. I would also like to know a good torque for them.

The dealer may or may not be helpful. With similar needs, they have been hit or miss for us in the past.

I appreciate your thoughts.

The grade of bolts may depend on how much weight you wish to carry on it, but the grade 8 would be my choice also. I'd have to think about the lock washers though. I've had some fracture and fall off, over the years on other kinds of applications.

So, being the helpful munchkin I am, here's a great chart on what to torque each size bolts, for grade 5 and grade 8 fasteners, both fine and course thread.

Thank you so much! This is very helpful!
What do you think about nyloc nuts instead of the lock washers?
The max load for the receiver is 300lbs.

If you can get nylocs in the right grade they'll probably work fine. I've used them, but for much smaller fasteners. If the hitch is going to live there forever, you can use red Loctite on the threads. Once it's cured, they won't loosen up without air powered tools.

When we bolted anything to a semi truck frame it was always grade 8 bolts and lock nuts. Never lock washers. Jay

I would go grade 8. 1st choice would be going with locknuts.

If I went with lock washers, I would also use a little medium loktite.

As for torque, it depends on the bolt. There are lots of charts to reference. Here is one from Fastenal.
