Impact Wrench and Lug Nut Size on 2016 Jayflight?
So this is probably a foolish newbie question. The lug nut size on our travel trailers are not the same size as vehicles correct? What is the exact size?
I was wondering if I could use an impact wrench hooked up to my viar rv compressor to tighten the lug nuts? Can anyone recommend a good set of locking nuts to purchase?

I wouldn't use an impact wrench.

Also I'm thinking it might be better to get an electrical impact wrench instead of using the conpressor. Would a 1/2 work? My truck has the ability to plug in a standard plug in the dashboard. Will this be enough power to operate the wrench?

I thought Jayco recommends the lugs tightened to a certain pressure?

That's what your torque wrench is for.

I can't help with the size, but there is a torque specification for the wheel lug nuts (as well as a pattern). I'm sure it's in your manual.
It's not a matter of just getting the lug nuts tight. It's a matter of tightening them correctly.

They are usual 13/16 sockets (on 5 bolts and 6 bolts). But get a torque wrench not an impact wrench. And go shopping quickly because there might be no tomorrow.

I have 15" Dexstar wheels on my TT. The acceptable torque range on them is 90-120 ft/lbs. You need to check your wheel documentation to find the correct torque value needed for your specific wheels. Typically, smaller rims require less torque. Buy a wrench that will work for your needs.

Thank you. Another stupid question. I never used a torque wrench. Can you use it to the losen the nuts as well or just tighten?

13/16 and yes. Craftsmen makes a decent torque wrench.

Go with a deeper socket. Then you'll definitely be good.

Buy a 1/2 inch torque wrench. Go to Harbor Freight, good quality and reasonable price.
