Is there a temp too low to grease hubs?

I want to grease my Hummingbird’s EZ Lube hubs for a trip this March. Temps in my neighborhood might make it to the 40s the next couple months. I use the the zirk fitting but can’t find info regarding this on the grease tube or Dexter site. What’s the lowest temperature one can have and still greens the hubs?

It’s a combination of the grease’s low temperature rating that’s already in the hub and hopefully you’re using the exact same grease in your grease gun. Take it for a drive, put some heat in the hubs and bring your grease in the house so it’s warm. Gently grease the hubs so you don’t push the rear seals out.
You can test your grease flow at low temps by putting a sample in the fridge overnight.

Thank you. As for the same grease - well, this is the first time since purchased that I’m greasing them, so not sure if I have the same stuff. What happens if it’s not the same? Using LMX Red Grease.

Some greases will interact with each other causing them to liquify and loose there lubricating properties. IF you can get a small sample from the hub you can test them together, you Could email Jayco and see if they’ll tell you what type of grease they use. The only other real option is to completely pull the bearings off, throughly clean them and replace with new grease.

I use Lucas X-tra heavy duty grease in all bearings, it has a melting point of 560°F, it has the highest temperature rating I could find in an easy to find grease. It’s also rated for extreme cold but they do not put a temperature rating for the cold. This grease can be picked up anywhere, Walmart Auto Zone even Home Depot carries it.
